Saugeen Hospice

A VERY WORTHY CHARITABLE DONATION CONSIDERATION for your clients estate planning considerations

No doubt, many of our Member lawyers have already been asked to include bequests to the Saugeen Hospice, currently fundraising to be built in Brockton.

As we lawyers know, and being something we often counsel our clients about, when we pass, our estate is likely to receive a hefty tax bill. Charitable gifts in a Will can reduce the taxes owed, and in some cases even eliminate them, while leaving the intended bequests to the heirs. Two articles from Hull & Hull illustrate this point well: The Tax Benefits of Charitable Gifts in Wills & Fostering Philanthropy Through Estate Planning.

Saugeen Hospice is a not-for-profit community corporation that will be providing compassionate end-of-life care, at no cost, to families in Brockton, South Bruce, Hanover, Arran-Elderslie, West Grey, Minto and surrounding areas.

Saugeen Hospice is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors from the service communities. Its mission is to create a residential hospice serving those communities. Fundraising is underway, and they have received charitable status from the Government of Canada. All donations from January 1, 2022 onwards over $20 will receive a tax receipt. Charitable Registration Number: 79270 4504 RR0001
