Worth the Drive to Your Courthouse Library

Not sure how many New or Recent Calls to the Bar there are working at firms here in Bruce and Grey Counties, but thought I would share the following information and ask our Members to bring this to their attention.

Did you know that you have access to millions of dollars in free electronic resources at your local courthouse library all across Ontario?

To subscribe to these services as a solo practitioner, they would cost you over $ 40,000 a year.

You also have access to the services of experienced librarians who have expertise in using these electronic resources as well as their great print collections. They can assist you to do your research more efficiently and effectively by using the key resource to answer your questions quickly. They are our “game changers”.

AI is also available at your local courthouse library to efficiently do some of your work using Vincent AI from Vlex.

Access to courthouse libraries across Ontario is available to all Ontario lawyers. Please check LiRN.ca for the location of each courthouse and their websites for when their resourceful staff are available to assist you.

Remote access to vLex which has thousands of Canadian cases, legislation and commentary from sources like Irwin Law is available to lawyers across Northern Ontario who often lack the resources of their Southern Ontario colleagues. Please contact your local courthouse librarian to set this up for you.
